Trip Itinerary Highlights

Here is a handy guide of 4days lavishing winter trek to Punakha

Day-1: Start from Dechencholing and up to Chamina

Drive to the north from Thimphu towards Dechencholing Palace via Thimphu Chhu. From here, the trek starts towards Shong Pang, and leads you to a beautiful small village, Chamina village.

Time required- 4 to 5 hours

Altitude- 3,360m

Overnight stay- A night inside a Tent

Day 2: Trek from Chamina to Dopshing Pang

On this day, firstly you will trek up to a pass called Sinchula. From this point, if you are lucky enough, you can see Phajoding Monastery just above Thimphu city. Then, the trek from the pass is more downhill until you reach the campsite at Dopshing Pang.

Time required- 7 to 8 hours

Altitude- 3,400m

Overnight stay- A night inside a Tent

Day 3: Trek to Chorten Ningpo

The trek to Chorten Ningpo will take you through dense forests, villages and rice fields. Chorten Ningpo is linked to Drukpa Kuenley, also known as the “divine madman”.  You will able to hear many colorful legends connected to this man from your guide.

Time required- 8 hours

Altitude- 2,700m

Overnight stay- A night inside a Tent

Day 4: the Final trek up to Zomlingthang

On the last morning, the trekking trail will lead you through several villages until you reach a motor road. From here you will be transported down to the Punakha Valley for exploring its beautiful glimpse.

Time required- 2 to 3 hours

Altitude- 2,250 m

Overnight stay- In a hotel
